1. Josh opened the meeting. Primary focus of meeting is the road maintenance.
Thanks to Dolly for organizing and paying cost for the meeting.
2. Open up for discussion of ideas.
3. Mr. Olsen suggested we introduce ourselves.
4. Susan Cameron - made comment on road maintenance, it used to be that when
someone built a home they repaired the road.
- Question was asked where the major problems are
-Culvert that used to be in place
-Used to be a spring, but it is dry
-Maintenance will be required regardless
-More people means more traffic
-Road washes into school parking lot
-Some work was done last summer with the removal of ledges
-Legalities of right-aways
-small dicussions
5. Bill Bridges offered to look into right away issues.
6. Julio suggested that 1/2 of road in front of his house is his responsibility.
7. Josh- deeded right aways, with rights of the public to use the road.
8. Formerly the community had someone who collected money each year, John Lingerfelt.
9. Josh - suggested that we have multiple people who have rights to the collection money. Two people from separate households. Also two people to be Managers - get quotes and talk with vendors.
10. Question, What is reasonable for people to contribute?
11. Dolly has researched other communities and they have one set price; no matter where you live on the street.
12. Julio discussed doing above suggestion.
13. What is the cost to pave to Nina's? Paving -$16,000 was quoted 3 years ago. Tar and chip - $27,000 was quoted in Feb of 2010. The cost of $27,000 is Turn Key
14. Question asked : What are environmental hazards of tar and chip.
15. Short term - gravel; save up over the next couple of years for paving/tar and chip

-Small cabin that is rented by Greybeard
-Another cabin on Dicksy lane

19. Someone state they don't want to spend money on a quick term fix, for it to go away.
20. Someone stated from this point on, require new construction to put down a deposit.
21. Concern of garbage trucks are going too fast and tearing up the road. Call Waste Management if you have concern.
22. Volunteers for road maintenance discussed? Managers- was suggested for a man to do this.
-Clay Heck and Vince Brockman are nominated and agreed upon for Managers.
-Dolly Cairns and Lagere Hartbarger are nominated and agreed upon for Treasures.
23. There will be at least two or three quotes from separate vendors/graders.
24. Area to be addressed will be from beginning of road to paved area.
25. Clay wants to look into more information on tar and chip.
26. Clay and Vince will get some numbers together on various possibilities to compare prices.
27. Discussion about what to do right now, some wanted to tar and gravel, but others said it's too expensive for their budgets right now. They would be unable to contribute the large lump sum needed to move forward with paving or tar and chip.
28. The amount of $250.00 a year for each household was suggested and agreed upon by the group.
29. PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY - for respect of houses on the road. The dust consumes their house!

driving slowly.
30. Motion made to pay $250.00 now and Dolly will check on bank account to setup.

COMMUNITY MEETING - DATE TO SCHEDULE??
Briefly talking with many neighbors, many are concerned about getting road fixed and expressing their thoughts on it. (at least to me) Only two comments have been expressed on this blog... so maybe you are waiting to share in person.
A Community Meeting has been expressed by many to be wanted. I tentatively scheduled one for middle of March (15Th). This would be on a Monday (night) when most get off work. If this is OK with most... I will try for that date and make a sign at the Mailboxes... if this is a Problem, please email me for your preferred date/day of week. I will try to make it for date that accommodates the MAJORITY... so please don't be offended.. if its not your preference.
Thanks again for checking the site!

Take our Poll
We have had many hits to this site over 150 views now; but only two people have posted their thoughts. To "hear" other neighbors thoughts, I have posted a Poll. Please take the poll and we can see which direction to try to research/investigate to go in.
In other thoughts, some prices on getting the road fixed have been gotten. Only downfall is we have to wait till it warms up some to get gravel laid and road scraped where needed.
Again, if you are viewing please let us know your thoughts. I will be trying to arrange a Community Meeting to discuss our options and take votes.. so please keep checking back with this blog to find out date and time.. you may also sign up for an email to be sent to you when it will occur.

Patton Hill Road
If you made here: You are interested in the condition of our road!
For several years now the road maintenance has not had anyone managing it. According to Court Records, there is a Road Maintenance agreement on file for property owners. This being the case all are legally responsible to assist with the upkeep and care for the road.
To keep it fair and just for all homeowners; we are asking all to contribute their thoughts on the approach to take in order to get our road up to better standards.
The following are some preliminary ideas. If you have further ideas please feel free to post them on this blog!
1. Start a Road Maintenance Fund. This fund would be used to fix any portion of Patton Hill Road that would need it. The funds would be put in a bank account under this Fund. Two people from different homes would administer and take care of expenses. The agreed amount that homeowners would contribute could be made in one lump sum for the year or if budget is tight (as is for many) we could offer monthly payments.
2. To ensure a reasonable price to repair road at least two quotes will be requested before choosing a vendor.
3. Once funds accumulate the remainder or accumulated funds could go towards paving, if homeowners are in agreement with this.
4. Another option is to investigate to see if the state will take it over if homeowners are in agreement with this.
5. Additional option would be to look into tar and chip road. This is a more cost effective alternative to paving and keeps look of a "country road".
